NEWS & Updates
- Aug 17, 2007. Heather is coming home … and we want you to come welcome her homecoming at an open house. Open House for Heather will be held Saturday, September 15, 2007 at her parent’s house in Eden Prairie (the same place we had her going away party last June 11, 2006). Go to the Open House page for details.
- July 10, 2007. Heather is getting ready to come home and was informed that she can no longer receive mail. So any mail sent after today will be returned to sender. Thanks so much for all the mail you have sent this past year. It has been great for Heather. More news as we get it. And be sure to plan on attending Heather’s welcome home part at our house sometime in September.
- May 19, 2007. Heather’s unit has tentative plans for coming home. They were told that they should be leaving Iraq for Kuwait “around” Aug 24th. From there they fly back to Indiana for a few days or more, then to Wisconsin for more debriefing before being released for home. So she should be back in Minnesota around the middle of September. Thanks again for all of your support. Heather and her family really appreciate it.
- March 11, 2007. Heather is an aunt! Her brother Bret and his wife Sarah had their first born son on March 6, 2007. Michael Alexander Stiles was 8 pounds 14 ounces and 21 and ½ inches long at birth. You can see some pictures on the gallery page. More to be added soon.

- January 8, 2007. Heather wishes everyone a Happy New Year. She also now has instant message capability and a myspace website. She would love to chat with you on-line. You can download the Yahoo Messenger and add her as a contact.

- December 17, 2006. Heather now has access to the internet and her email about every other day (in a few weeks she will even have it in her room). So you can send her emails now in addition to your letters. heather.alaina.stiles@us.army.mil
- December 16, 2006. Heather is getting settled in her new quarters and may have easier access to the internet in about a week. We will let you know when she is connected and you can start emailing her too. She loves the letters and gifts she has been getting from you and will be in touch with more of you soon when her internet access is established.
- December 6, 2006. We found out a short while ago that Heather will be moving to a new unit but didn’t know the new address until now. She could be with this new unit for 2 to 4 months or even for the rest of her tour of duty in Iraq. Here is her new mailing address:

- October 20, 2006. Heather is getting settled into her new living quarters now but still does not have ready internet access. She was able to get online for a very short while this past week and posted a message on the Guestbook for you to read. She has not been able to access her email for about a month so the best way to reach her now is by mail. She would really love to hear from you, even if its just a short note or postcard. Postage is the same for regular U.S. mail and here is her mailing address again. She said she will be in touch with you as she is able and would like to hear from you and have you send her any pictures so she can keep up on what is going on back here at home. It takes from 8 to 10 days for the mail delivery. Thanks!

APO & FPO Addresses:
Having trouble entering an APO or FPO address on our order form? Following these steps should help:
* City field: Enter "APO" or "FPO."
* State/Province/Region field: Enter "AE" in the if the recipient is stationed in Europe, Canada, Africa, or the Middle East. Enter "AA" if the recipient is stationed in the Americas. Enter "AP" if the recipient is stationed in Asia or the Pacific.
* Country field: Always select "United States" from the drop-down menu regardless of where the recipient is stationed.

- September 25, 2006. A note on postage. Since you are mailing to a military APO address you would still use the standard first class postage rates for a letter. In other words, there is no additional postage associated with mailing to Heather like you would normally have when mailing overseas to a non military address. Plus if you are mailing something that is very heavy or a larger amount of things there is a flat rate box you get from the post office (ask them for the box to use) that is just $8. Just compare that with regular first class rates to see which is the best rate for your package.

She is getting settled in her new base camp after arriving this past week and I know she would like to hear from you again by mail. She will also be in contact once she gets her internet connection re-established and can send/receive emails.
- September 16, 2006. We wanted to let everyone know that Heather is overseas now and doing fine. It will be another week yet before she is settled in and has a mailing address. We will let you know that address when we have it. You will also be able to start emailing her again in about a week. Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and support. That is really helpful for her to know she has so much love being sent her way on a daily baisis.
- September 5, 2006. Heather may not have access to a computer for a while so she may not be able to respond to your emails. The same for her mail. We will let you know her new mailing address once we know what it is. You can still leave her a message on the guest book and try sending an email so when she does have internet access she will see it. Thanks for your support.
- August 19, 2006. Great News -- Heather will be coming home for just a few days the end of the month before her unit heads over seas. She will arrive on Monday, August 28th and leave on Thursday the 31st..

- August 12, 2006. Heather does not have official word yet, but most indications are that she will have a few days off the last week of August (28-31) where she will be able to fly home for a short visit before shipping overseas. Will let you know more when we do. She loves the letters and cards you have been sending!
- August 4, 2006. Heather is heading out for her final two weeks of field training at Camp Atterbury before deployment overseas. She will have a few days off to fly home before they leave but we don’t know those dates yet. You can send her a card, email or leave a message for her on the guest book, she would love to hear from you. Thanks.

In case you were wondering why Heather is in the Wisconsin National Guard and not Minnesota it is because she joined a unit there while she was at college (at the U of WI Stout) back in 2001.
